Frequently asked questions
Is AQL simply an allowed defect percentage?
No. AQL is a quality index used to select a sampling plan; it should not be read as a direct percentage of defects allowed in one lot. The selected plan's Ac/Re numbers determine the lot decision.
How do General Levels I, II, and III differ?
The general inspection level changes the sample-size code letter. Level II is commonly used for general inspection; Level I gives a smaller sample and Level III a larger one. The applicable level should be agreed before inspection.
Why can category sample sizes differ?
Table II-A arrows direct some code-letter and AQL combinations to the first available plan above or below. The tool shows each resolved category sample and uses the largest as the working inspection sample.
Does this result replace an inspection agreement?
No. It is a planning reference. Confirm defect classifications, sampling, checks, and decision rules before the inspection.
